Okay, so we have high car insurance premiums because of me, the "repeat offender" as DMV so politely put in a letter in September of 2005. The year 2005 was not a great year for me and the car(s). In August, I got into a car accident with one of the trees on Lathrop Road..not my fault that Saturn puts the outlet for the phone on the freakin' floor...but anyway....
Then 2 days after that, I get a speeding tickets on the SAME road...(realizing a pattern here peoples?!)....oh but August is not over...I get into a major accident with Don's car on August 28th on I-680. A nice mac truck hit me as I was trying to avoid another car in front of me
....I am telling you someone is out to get me...but I digress....Well, Geico raised our insurance....double! Okay....my bad. Well, the fun is only begining because in December, I got another speeding ticket which was the 2nd within 18 months. Well, that made DMV a little miffed. Well, my little green friend, the Geico was not too happy either. I recieved a letter stating that they are cancelling me and they will keep Don on a policy if I sign away my driving rights to his car, basically. So, I looked for other insurance and man are these companies picky! I found a broker and I got a policy for $2100.00 per year! What a bargin! I (well, Don and I...Ya know that whole marriage thing?!) am pretty much screwed until 12-22-08 when my record will be clean.
Okay...I am getting to the point of my story. The broker calls today and tells me that GMAC is raising my rates again to $176.00 per month. I told her that is how much I pay now! She said, "oh, well, I guess they were referring to the increase from the $144.00 that you started the policy with." okay...w/e! So, then she said that GMAC is having difficulties with their EFT process and wanted me to pay the broker directly or have them bill me. I said to bill me. Then I go into a rant about how insurance a joke and I think that it stinks that I am paying so much money...I was starting to sound like Charlie Brown's teacher. Then the broker pipes up with, "Well, ya know we did find you a cheaper policy for $136.00 per month." Okay, dude, do we have to play "Blues Clues"? She then asked if I wanted to switch? Sure, what the heck!
I think it is fate that we are saving $40.00 per month because that is exactly how much I need a month for the special surprise that I started on Saturday. I am not telling until then because I want you all to crave my next blog entry!
Ta Ta for now!
